The debit card that disappoint me is that Maybank Cherry debit card.. 1st when I applied for that card, I thought it really could be linked to Paypal where the officer in Maybank told me so.. What I had did wrongly was I didn’t do research at the 1st..
After that, I tried to look through google search and i found that tunemoney and pb visa electron are both confirmed that can be linked to paypal.. the annual fee of rm24 for pb visa electron is actually the reason why i didnt apply for it.. I go for a tunemoney card which requires rm12 annual fee which is a relevant fee.. now i feel kinda inconvenient whenever i wanna use my paypal because i gotta keep reloading my tunemoney card and always been charged rm0.50 through fpx reload, this is the cheapest way of reloading the card.. and now they had changed the fee system, annual fee rm12 is gone, but rm1.50/month fee came.. =.= so i am going to cancel it very soon..
Few days ago, i went to public bank to buy bank draft, so i saw this MU debit card and day2day debit card brochures.. i asked 3 officers over there.. 2 told me day2day card cant link to paypal.. and 1 told me he dunno what is paypal.. >.< so i decided to apply for MU debit card since the 2 officers said day2day card cant but MU card can link to paypal.. in this case, my MU debit card will be prepared after 2 weeks..
In fact, i was going to open a savings acc at public bank, so i decided to get the day2day card as my atm card because i can withdraw money unlimited times/mth without charging me fee for over withdrawal..When i reached home, i tried my luck to link the day2day card to paypal.. and it successful.. So, now my coming MU debit card is actually useless already..
Sometimes, I just felt that they didnt give us the accurate information and they didnt update themselves as financial institutions.. Just like the officer don’t even know what is Paypal.. >.< But anyway, I am satisfied with this day2day card.. unlike the maybank debit card, it can’t even use for online purchase.. seems like it has only two functions which are withdraw money and swipe at counters (so call “work like a credit card”)..

I’m sorry but I have silly question here. How to get the Pbebank statement online to verified my debit card in paypal? is it under transaction history>credit/debit card?
or i need to wait until public bank send me the hard copy of the statement at the end of month only i can get the code?
but when i go to the transaction history>credit/debit card, i found nothing, infact there a statement stated that said that i do not have the relevant account-i’m really confused!
can you help me please?

Hi,
There are two different debit card in Publicbank. As for the debit card that u applied at the beginning (act as ATM card which you cant collect reward points eg. day2day card) I supposed you should see under “Account Inquiry -> Transaction History -> Deposit Account”. If your debit card is the one that can collect reward points (eg. Manchester debit card), I supposed you go “Account Inquiry -> Transaction History -> Credit/debit card”. In your case you said you found nothing, so I assumed what u have was day2day debit card right?
Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks. ^^

Hi, you will have to login at this page..
if you don’t have an pbebank login account yet, refer to this in order to register at ATM:
In there, click on “Account Enquiry” you will see “e-statement“. Hope this helps.

Hi Ping,
I am so sorry for the late reply, by the time u see this, u should be already got your PayPal code for linking your card’s verification, right? I hope so.
And regarding the withdrawals, yes, you must have linked one of your bank account in order for you to take out your money from PayPal and paying the least amount of fees. If it’s more than MYR 400.00, then you do not need to pay any fees at all hehe.. Unfortunately, if you are withdrawing to card, the fee is kinda high.. Not worthy.. So, it’s better for you to have a bank account.. Isn’t it PB Day2Day card comes with a Public Bank savings account? Just add your PB Savings Account to your PayPal.

Shyuan

i was linked my pb day2day visa debit card to my paypal account and it will generate a 4-digit paypal code on my card statement.
my account is basic saving account and i couldn’t obtain the e-statement or hard- copy statement during logging in to pb ebank to get the 4-digit code. i was told that the online statement not available to basic saving account.
i know that it would take up to 30 days for me to receive the statement by post. this take too long time.
i would like to get it as fast as possible.

Report
hello may i ask that whether i have to register for the PBebank before i link it to my paypal account?
Report
Hi there,
When you link your card to PayPal, PayPal will print a 4 digit verification code in your bank statement. Then you need this 4 digit verification code to verify your card.
For credit card, instead of waiting for your hard copy statement (1 month later), you can actually get your 4 digit code in PBeBank e-statement (if you register one) in few days later. Anyhow, once you link your card to PayPal, you can use right away. You can verify your card any time sooner or later.
If the card you linked is a debit card, I think you have to register for PBeBank as there will be no hard copy statement for debit card users. The only way you can see your transactions (including PayPal 4 digit code) is through PBeBank e-statement. Still, you can use your PayPal right away after linked without verifying it. You can verify your card any time sooner or later.
Hope this clarifies =]

hi..i’m very new to this online shopping thing so i want to ask a few question just to be safe..
please explain it from scratch..such as do i have to ask the counter lady to activate my “internet ebanking” for the pbd2d debit card? do i nid to login to pb website to confirm anything?
once done applying the card,do i have to wait for sometime til the card is usable for online shopping such as at ebay?
once i have a pb d2d debit card, how am i suppose to link it with paypal account(PLEASE EXPLAIN THIS WITH EXTREME AND IMPORTANT DETAILS,such as what will show up at your screen, what should you key in, what you should press next etc.)?what with this generate 4-digit code thing after linking it with paypal?wat is exactly the importance of that 4-digit code?does it cost me anything in the process of linking the card to paypal?
Report
Once done applying the card, you will get the card in the bank or posted to your home, once activated, of course you may start shopping right away. You do not have to wait or anything. Since I am no longer PBD2D card user, I am afraid I couldn’t explain to you any further.
Nope, you don’t need to go to the counter for activating your internet banking. You may refer to PBeBank How to apply. Once you registered via ATM, you can go login in pbebank website.
Just go to paypal.com to register one account, then it will ask you to link your card (for making payment) and/or your bank (for withdrawing money if your Paypal account has balance in it. I don’t link a lot of cards in my Paypal, thus I don’t remember what will show up at your screen, what should you key in and what you should press next. You will know what to do when you are in the process of linking your card to PayPal. They are all in simple English which I am sure you can easily understand it. Follow the instruction given by PayPal.
Once you linked your card and bank to Paypal successfully, you will be charged an amount (I think it is now RM10). At this point, your bank account will be deducted RM10 and providing you a 4 digit code in your e-statement (since debit card users are not getting hard copy statements, so it is important for us to have a internet banking registered as told above). Once you have this 4 digit code in your e-statement/transaction history, you confirm it with Paypal in your Paypal account, then the RM10 will now be in your Paypal. No worries, it is NOT a cost and it is still belongs to you. Is just that the RM10 is now in Paypal instead of your PB bank account. They take RM10 from your bank account, ask you to confirm the 4 digit code, then put the RM10 into your Paypal account, it is because they wanna make sure the card you have just linked is belongs to you where you are able to access the statement to find out your 4 digit code.
Report
oh another question..since you are a regular user of paypal, does paypal have a minimum amount of payment? for example like setting each payment must more than USD 1, if the goods you bought through online shopping is less than USD 1, then paypal will charge u money, is there such a thing?
Report
You can even pay RM0.01 to a seller when you buy stuff in eBay. Paypal will not charge you anything IF you are a eBay buyer. BUT if you were to send money to another Paypal user, Paypal will charge you a small fee which you can choose who pay the fee (you or the recipient). Fee amount may vary according to how much you are sending to people.
And in the other way round, if someone send you money, he can also choose whether you or him who pay the small fee.
In another case, If you have a balance in Paypal, you wanna withdraw to your bank account/card, kindly choose bank account because you will be only charged RM4 (for withdrawal less than RM400) or free of charge (if withdrawal more than RM400). If you choose withdraw to card, you will be charged RM20. Since your card is a debit card (which is your bank account’s ATM card), why not just withdraw to bank account right because they are, no matter what, still linked together? The fee of withdrawal is either free or RM4 depending the amount you are withdrawing. Much cheaper compared to withdraw to card.
You will understand all this when you get the hang of using PayPal. I can’t tell you everything but I am sure you will able to learn as you use since I am not an expert too. I hope you can use a better tone next time (ie a POLITE way) to ask me questions. Otherwise, I won’t feel like answering your questions. And also, I did not work for Paypal, I am just sharing my experiences here. I can’t guarantee if I can always answer all the questions asked here. Thank you.

oh..i’m very very sorry..i do not mean to insert any tone of rudeness or intention of being impolite….thank you so much for the valuable information! i was SOOOOOOOO grateful and have no idea how to repay your generosity~
it’s just i’m really new to this online purchase thing, and i ordered a debit card from Ambank without doing a proper research first as i’m not old enough to get a credit card. It’s called Ambank NEXG debit card and it’s not an atm card. not only the card itself cost me rm25, it have a monthly fee(note:not annual fee) of rm3. and the list of the cons on that card keeps going on~~~
on the same day i ordered the Ambank NEXG debit card,at night, my friend gave me a call and explained to me all about the pb d2d debit card, such as it’s a two in one card(atm card=debit card,in other words, more hassle-free), ANNUAL fee of rm12/rm8-stil nt sure about this.(i would really like to emphasis on this because this is what really made me so disappointed with the Ambank debit card as i’m just a student). OMG! i suddenly feel so stupid.
oh ya, i asked a lot of questions because you sounded to be savvy in this paypal thing..thanks again for your willingness to answer my questions.
and another few question which might be a little bit private, erm…you said you didnt use pb d2d card already,so what card are you using? is it better? if yes,in what way?if you would be kind enough to answer this few more questions,i would certainly be more than grateful!
Hope this message does not offend you in any kind of way..
P/S: NO! It should be ME thanking you.. Thank you! ^^

Hiya, I am sure, for this time, you are not that rude as I thought.
Speaking about the Ambank NEXG card, that’s just like a prepaid sim card. I see, debit card is now getting popular in Malaysia. And yes, you can treat it as ATM card to withdraw money or you can use it like credit card, provided you must have sufficient balance in it. Don’t worry, this is not stupid. It’s how you can learn new things.
At the beginning I applied for a Maybank account, then I am given a debit card, at that point, this debit card can be used for withdrawing money and use it like a credit card but NOT shopping online (ie. I cannot link it to PayPal). Hence, I applied for PBD2D. Soon later, Maybank debit card is allowed to shop online. So I stopped using PBD2D. This is because Maybankard (ie my Maybank debit card) has no annual fee. You may see this page.
And since Maybank is a local bank, it’s even better if local sellers request for payment via internet banking, they would usually use a Maybank account for their businesses. Maybankard can also collect reward points like how PBD2D does when you swipe your card instead of withdrawing cash. Since I am no longer using my PBD2D, I might as well just cancel it, otherwise I will pay the annual fee each year when I don’t even use it.
But if you are already with PBD2D, you stick with it. Hope this helps.

Hey,
I have a Kawanku Savings Account by the way.
And since you are still a teenager, you can only apply for savings account. No matter which bank, you will need a savings account to have a debit card. Except the one like Ambank NexG, that one is not related to savings account. It is like a topup card. If you were to ask me about Maybankard, I am gladly to help you. As I am currently with Maybankard & Kawanku Savings Account.
Report
YES YES YES!!! thank you!!!!
erm, the question goes like this, the description about the kawanku saving account in the maybank link you gave me says it’s an interest bearing account..so does that mean i have to pay some interest to use that account? OMG~~
Report
Heya,
No worries at all, I never pay any interest to the bank before. Instead it will pay you interest. And of course, the more money you have the higher the interest rate. Kindly refer to this. You just have to tell the information counter that you wanna open a “Kawanku Savings Account + a Maybankard Visa Debit”. Be prepared with a RM250 with you when opening bank account. Once you get your card on that day itself, they will on the spot ask you change your 6digit PIN or ask you go ATM machine change your 6digit PIN. After changing, now it’s time to apply for maybank2u.com.my (ie Online Banking) at ATM. Follow these steps. If you are doing this at the ATM, you will have to insert your handphone number (will be used to verify your transaction whenever you transfer money online). If you are doing this, meaning that you are on the right path.
After all these steps, you gotta go online to start using your online banking services such as transfer money, activate your debit card for “Verified by VISA”, study your M2U transfer or Debit card transaction history, download statement in PDF version and etc. Maybe you should go apply for your account and card first, then come back to me and I will tell you what to do with all these online things?
If I am telling you now, you will be very confused.

Report
n what is TAC? the counter lady didnt explain to me that detail..*frustrated n more lost…
is TAC important in the paypal payments?
Report
TAC is not important if you are using PayPal. PayPal does not requires your TAC. TAC works this way, for example, you wanna transfer RM100 to me using internet banking, you need to request for a TAC, an sms will be sent to you by Maybank. The sms contains a 6 digit code which you will have to fill in when you are making a transfer online. This is to make sure you are the one who ask for the transaction to be happened. Hope you understand what I mean.
If you put me in your Favourite 3rd Party Transfer list, then you do not need to request for TAC for the next transaction (but as for the first time, you will still need TAC).

oh…ok…thanks..:)

and about paypal, shouldnt i supposed to get my sms alerts through phone if any success transaction is made? why my phone didnt receive any msg? i’m so worried..T.T
Report
Hey,
If you made a payment via PayPal, the transaction will be shown in PayPal and shown in Maybank2u transaction history and debit card history. PayPal will show you just in a few minutes time. But Maybank will only show you your latest/newest transaction probably the next day. And please note that you usually will not able to see all transaction history from 12am-6am. For example, you buy RM20 stuff over eBay/any online shop using PayPal, once transaction done, you will see your transaction history in PayPal right after a few minutes, you will see the transaction in Maybank2u next day under transaction history and debit card history. Sometimes there’s a record like “PRE AUTH”. No worries, it will be returned and you will be charged again. (So your money is to be deducted, then added back to your account, then be deducted again, just contra them, you will find that your money isn’t overcharged). At this point you probably do not need to understand why is it so. I will explain to you next time.
The sms alert is supposed to be for Maybank2u who alert you, not PayPal. If you did successfully register your phone number in ATM machine for Maybank2u account, you should be able to get a TAC sms whenever you are trying to pay through Maybank2u (NOTE: not PayPal, PayPal will not need TAC because PayPal is already a safe measure in terms of using money online, they are both work as security measures).

Hi,
As I see, they allow people as young as 12 years old to apply for the card. But for this card, the annual fee is RM8. Whereas Maybank Visa Debit has no annual fee. Besides, I am not too sure which savings account Public Bank will offer you (either PB Bright Star Savings Account or Young Achiever Savings Account). Since you wanted Debit Card, I think they will introduce you the Bright Star Account, because it mentioned in the page about debit card whereas Young Star Account did not offer a debit card. In my case, I used to have PBD2D card along with a basic savings account (as I am no longer teenager). See this to read more about fees and benefits for PBD2D Card (there are pdf files links). Hope this helps.

Hi there,
Paypal 4-digit code will not appear on the passbook. Register for a PBeBank account follow this instruction. FYI, there is no other way to get the PayPal 4-digit code. Only an e-statement or hard copy statement will allow you to see your transaction details. In your case, I don’t think there is hard copy statement. So the only thing is to get your PBeBank account to active.
By the way, you can use your PayPal even without verifying your card as long as it is linked successfully. You can do the verification thing later.
